Savory No Butter Cheese Scones

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup fat free plain greek yogurt
  • 1 1/4 cup self rising flour
  • 1-2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1-2 teaspoons finely diced fresh chives use kitchen scissors for ease!
  • 1/4 cup finely grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon soy milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon avocado oil

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment and set aside
  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt and self rising flour. Mix to make a dough and add 1-2 tablespoons of water depending on how dry the dough is. Mix until you get a shaggy dough.
  • To the dough, add the basil, chives, and cheese. Knead the dough inside the bowl until all ingredients are evenly distributed and you have a ball of dough. The dough should not be sticky, if it is too wet, add more flour, too dry add more water.
  • Place the dough ball on the prepared pan and shape into a disc, about 1 inch thick. Cut into 8ths, like a pie, but do not separate the pieces.
  • Optional -Prepare your DIY fake egg wash by combining the milk and oil, mixing in a bowl, and using a pastry brush, brush over the tops of the cut scones. You may also use heavy whipping cream or your own preferred method.
  • Bake 20-25 minutes until golden and internal temperature reaches 200F.
